Interesting. Local. Ethical.
I wanted to feedback to you what a great time my partner
and I had yesterday at the first Duck Pond market to be held in Harrow. We live just round the corner, so it was very exciting to have something like this that is walking distance from us (bit like having our own Borough Market!)
The range of stalls was impressive and the Headstone Manor venue really lent itself to the event. All the stall holders were so friendly and its nice to know all this good stuff is available locally – bread, meat, cakes, pies, chilli sauce, jewellery, etc, etc. I spent a few quid! It was also good to see what goes on at the Manor – plays, guided tours – I didn’t realise.
We did have a chat with one of “ the organisers who said there was a problem with the council regards advertising the market (we saw the big poster on the railings close by to the venue, I think the only one allowed). This is a real shame, whats not to like? Maybe put an ad in the local papers next time and put posters up in local schools. It would be a real shame if this had to stop due to lack of numbers – its brilliant!”
from a local resident!
